Why I Am Running:
With the last two fiscal year budget discussions, I have become
increasingly disillusioned and disgusted with the lack of
adequate understanding of accounting and finance.
Political decisions have outweighed sound financial ones. That
needs to change. I have the education, understanding, and
experience to help make that happen.
I can’t promise the town quick and easy fixes to the problems it
faces, but I am offering sound solutions.
My Priorities:
You can see that the public safety and
infrastructure issues not only overlap, but they
also are ultimately tied to a properly structured
budget, which is why I am running and why you
should use one of your votes for me.
FIX THE BUDGET
Since BOMA it has been a frequent topic during budget discussions that our recurring revenues are not keeping pace with our recurring expenses. This needs to stop. We have NO available savings for
emergency needs or infrastructure projects.
As the town’s rapid growth has slowed, our licensing and permitting fees went down from a high in 2022 of 4.3M to 1.6M for the most recent fiscal year. This missing revenue is putting strain on our budget. Nolensville needs to face this reality.
PUBLIC SAFETY
‘Public Safety’ for Nolensville primarily means our police and fire departments, and the biggest public safety issue our town is facing is that the police department needs more space and officers. We have
the property. We need the funds. Taking out another 20 year bond is foolish. Adding more public safety staff is always an expensive issue.
This needs to be addressed.
I will talk about this more in the ‘Infrastructure’ because these issues are all intertwined.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Infrastructure is tied in with Public Safety which are both reliant on a proper budget. I support the park on Sunset Road, as I have publicly
stated a number of times. I support a police station on Sunset Road, as I have discussed above and publicly stated a number of times.
Our roads need improving. The biggest thing to help our local businesses is to improve the town’s roads. My top two priorities are Kidd to McFarlin to Fly to Rock Springs and Nolensville Road South of
Clovercroft due to capacity issues created by the Town Square and Darcy projects. I also advocate that a traffic light be installed at Newsome and
Rocky Fork to improve safety. There should be a warning that all road projects take a LONG time and A LOT of money, and it will take the commitment of successive Boards of Commissioners.
